1. Networking Out

Joining a gym makes valuable social and professional opportunities available to you within a growing circle of health-minded people inside a typically positive and motivational environment.

2. Be Aware

Be especially cautious when traveling outside of your own country. Medical practices and payment expectations can be as hazardous as many illnesses or injuries. Before you leave, do your homework and learn what to expect from the societies you plan to visit.

3. Tighten those love muscles

During and after pregnancy women can regain tone and control over the often lax muscles of their pelvic floor by regularly performing Keigel exercises. One of the other reported benefits to having toned pelvic floor muscles is enhanced orgasms. Your physician should be able to give you the "how-to" on Keigel techniques.

4. bête noire

Dive in and do what you detest, fear or dread. You then control your own fear or reluctance rather than letting that fear control you.

5. Evolutionary fitness

Although aerobics has been touted as the activity of prime importance to our health and well being, it's not completely consistent with our development through the ages. Shorter duration, higher intensity activity more closely parallels our nomadic, hunter / gatherer predecessors' life styles. Our bodies haven't yet adapted to civilization. So do your aerobics, but strength train, too, to complete the picture.

6. VO2 to the Max

The best way to improve your aerobic capacity is to utilize regular interval training. For example, to use a 1:1 work:rest ratio, first warm up; now, run hard for 2 minutes: run easy for 2 minutes, run hard: run easyäetc.; to finish, cool down. Do as many interval "sets" as fits your program parameters.

7. Sugar is sugar

Concentrated fruit juice is still just refined sugar, and still only provides empty calories.

8. Fattening foods

"Fattening" foods do not have to be high in fat. Regarding non-fat or low fat foods: If you find sugar within the first four ingredients listed on the package label then you may want to rethink your dietary selection. Sugary foods are often high in useless calories and can contribute greatly to unsuccessful weight loss or fat loss programs.

9. Release the pressure

Blood pressure in hypertensive people is raised by alcohol consumption. Alcohol also interferes with the drugs used to treat high blood pressure. Regular aerobic exercise tends to lower elevated blood pressure. Is there a lesson here?

10. Egg-ceptional

Like eggs? Don't want the extra fat? Double the number of eggs you usually cook, remove the yolks, and voilá, an exceptionally lean source of protein. If just plain whites are too extreme for you, use something like 5 whites and one yolk. Season with salsa or herbs.
