Your first action is the moveaway. Your torso
rotates to your right (vice versa for lefties) and your weight is transferred to the
inside of your right leg. The relative position of club and navel does not change. Notice that my club is simply an extension of my center. It's that connection, starting your backswing with your larger muscle groups, not just your arms that is one of the keys to a successful golf swing.
At this 8 o'clock position you're dialed-in, and only good things can develop for the rest of your swing. Also, don't leave your head behind. You want it to rotate slightly to the right, as well.
