You'll want to form a 90° angle between your straight left arm and the club. You don't need any sort of wrist attachment gadget, etc., either. You accomplish this best by hinging your wrist, yourself. This is called setting. The 90° angle, once set, stores the power the body is developing during your backswing. This is all important, don't skimp on the angle, make it a full 90°.
Weight training for your forearm muscles lends integrity to the wrist structure and is immensely helpful here.
